painting wt light
Me,Catalin and Serkan decided to visit Rocheport, Missouri.
Rocheport is a special place for me. When I came to the states four years ago, I had homesick, which led me the deepest depression ever. I wanted to meet river and sea. I can’t explain why I wanted to go, but I heard somebody was calling me from there.
We three had each different view point of Rocheport. Serkan draw himself we say “creepy” in front of cave. Catalin draw himself in a multi exposed way. He seems he is meeting with other Catalins such as finding an identity.
I, Truth, came up with loneness, which I had found four years ago.
I didn’t want to paint too much, but I found my self going to the cave with bare foot.
• SOMBODY was calling me,
• Somebody was calling me, but I can’t hear very well. It’s too far.
• It sounds familiar, but I can’t see well.
Well…I can’t see you.

"The camera is an excuse to be someplace you otherwise don't belong. It gives me both a point of connection and a point of separation." Susan Meisela
(biography from Magnum)
Susan Meiselas' first major photographic essay focused on the lives of women doing striptease at New England country fairs. She photographed the carnivals during three consecutive summers while teaching photography in the New York public schools. Carnival Strippers was published in 1976, and a selection of the images was installed at the Whitney Museum of Art in June 2000.
Meiselas received her BA from Sarah Lawrence College, New York, and her MA in visual education from Harvard University. She joined Magnum Photos in 1976. Best known for her coverage of the insurrection in Nicaragua and for her documentation of human rights issues in Latin America, her second monograph, Nicaragua, June 1978-July 1979, appeared in 1981.
Meiselas edited and contributed to El Salvador: The Work of 30 Photographers and edited Chile from Within, which features work by photographers living under the regime of Augusto Pinochet. She has co-directed two films: Living at Risk: The Story of a Nicaraguan Family (1986) and Pictures from a Revolution (1991) with Richard P. Rogers and Alfred Guzzetti. In 1997 she completed a six-year project curating a 100-year visual history of Kurdistan. Her 2001 monograph, Pandora's Box, which explores a New York S&M club, was followed by Encounters with the Dani, an account of an indigenous people living in Indonesia's Papua highlands.
Meiselas received the Robert Capa Gold Medal for 'outstanding courage and reporting' from the Overseas Press Club for her work in Nicaragua; the Maria Moors Cabot Prize from Columbia University for her coverage of Latin America; and, in 2005, the Cornell Capa Infinity Award. In 1992 she was named a MacArthur Fellow.

blending
Blending is a challenging matter on any subject matter. I assume that blending is a key technique to keep a mood of a situation. This isn’t meant that I do not like using a strobe as a key light. I do like a specific mood made by an artificial light, especially when I met European fashion magazine.
I choose speedy and moving subjects to give this effect. Since I used slower shutter speed on a moving subject, I can hardly handle focusing. In order to solve this problem, I met GTA, and she gave me a solution. "GET CLOSER" I went out again to practice on as GTA recommended to me. and I got closer to him.
The reason why I have chosen this subject is that gives me an idea how fast our live is on a live show.

filling flash
Well...
Using s right strobe is always challenging especially when I meet unexpected light. During the spring break, I went to Puerto Rico to give a breath. I, of course, grab a camera to get through a new assignment. I thought I read a book a lot, which is related to a technique of a strobe; nevertheless, meeting real situations is always difficult.
Here are some problems I met.
Fill flash
Collision with overexposure.
To Solve; 1/3 stop down for the flash
Balancing
Challenge: easy to artificial or flat
To Solve: still solving

drawn by the sea. My friends was pushing me and another friend into the sea just for fun, but they don't know I can't swim at all.
I was saved right after I give my last breath to god....
Anyway, these photos are for Color Correction. I forgot to change ISO after taking photos w/o a strobe. It lets me have a lesson that I need to have enough breath before taking pictures.
I know it's hard for photojournalists to have it, but it's important.

Columbia—Models are waiting for a show at the backstage of The Model Citizen Fashion Show, Saturday night. The Model Citizen Fashion Show is held for a benefit of Thompson Center for Autism and Neuro developmental Disorders. The organization raises more than $100,000 for autism. William Thompson, who established the Thompson Center, said that he hopes the center would someday be the leader in the U.S. for the research and care of autistic children.
Columbia—On Wednesday night, Jessica Valenti and Ann Friedman of Feministing.com speak about how the future of feminism will be affected by blogging, journalism, and on-line media. One student, anonymous, made a point the weakness of feminism calling himself an anti-feminist. Jessica Valenti's work, Full Frontal Feminism, will be on sale courtesy of the University Bookstore.

I took pictures of the Fashion show, which was held, in an executive center at Holliday in Columbia, Missouri on Saturday night. It was challenging for me to use a strobe because it was the first time. It was much harder than I expected. I missed some good moments out because I had no experiences of using the light. I was not able to make each light each situation quickly. I felt I need to practice this more and more on diverse light situations. I tried to catch the difference on shutter speed or aperture. Despite of the harsh situation, I was glad to meet the beautiful moment at a back stage of the Citizen Fashion Show.
Second shot was made at Mark twain ballroom in Memorial Union. There was under a f-light. Firstly, I was trying to capture two speakers, but I captured a bottle of water in front of them. It was really hard to capture background things behind the foreground things. Second, I pushed myself much harder situation. This time, I picked one guy who did not want to tell his name but called him an anti-feminist. He was a middle of girls. I wanted to give him a light to discern him from others. I also tried to capture others’ facial expression at the same time. This time is much better than Saturday. I guess never stop practice makes change on someday.

Honestly, I am a little shy, but not much after getting into, person, so I need a certain amount of time to get to know people. I had never met Tara Ballenger before advanced technique. The first impression I got from her is that Tara is also a shy girl as I am. Her shyness suddenly reminded me of The Girl with a Pearl Earring by Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer.
Since I am majoring in art history, I have many opportunities to see how masters use light to make the masterpiece. Johannes Vermeer is a master of capturing sudden emotion and lighting. However, there is a secret. Art historians are confident that Vermeer used as tools both mirrors and the camera obscura. This helps him obtain the sudden emotion of the girl in The Girl with a Pearl Earring. Close examination of his paintings shows that Vermeer realized that shadows are not colorless and dark and that light is composed of colors. Thus, he painted reflections off a surfaces in colors modified by others near by.
I sometimes imagine what if he lives in 20th century.
I was a stranger to her, and she was a stranger to me. I was trying to capture something ice between people who had never met before. I luckily caught that in the first shot because it was the first shot.
The other shot after some chatting.
